    Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

    Yorkshire Three Peaks-Conquered

‘Team DFA Charity Walkers’ duly completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, with a ‘team time’ of 11 hours 54 minutes, sneaking in just under the 12 hour ‘limit’!

Assisted by guides Adam and Mark the team made good time and even managed a somewhat extended stop at Ribblehead Viaduct, to enjoy the glorious September afternoon sunshine before setting off to ‘claim’ the last peak, Whernside. Ingelborough was climbed by just before 8.00 am and the summit of Pen-y-Ghent was reached at just at 11.45.

A thoroughly enjoyable day and, at the last count,  well over £1000 raised for our chosen Charity ‘NARA the breathing charity’.

Who knows where are next challenge will take us?

    For NARA The Breathing Charity

On Saturday 17th September 2016, 8 members of the DFA staff, Clare Towers, Jo Harrison, Wendy Davidson, Colin Mitton, Innes Macaulay, Paul Currie , Tom Harrison and Philip Humphrys are intending to attempt the Yorkshire Three Peaks. The Yorkshire Three Peaks is a 24 mile hike climbing Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingelborough with a total assent of 5,000ft. We will attempt to do the walk in 12 hours!

We intend raising money for NARA the Breathing Charity (The National Association for the Relief of Apnoea). NARA is a local charity and has since 1984 provided assistance to many who suffer from a variety of respiratory conditions. NARA offer Medical equipment, advice, support, 24 hour helpline, Community Care programme, help with palliative care, local community schemes and much more.

We are all busy ‘training’, we have completed two training walks and have a couple more planned………just hope we don’t ‘peak’ too early!
