I have been asked to become a Non-Executive Director. What does non-exec mean?

Executive directors work for a company on a full or part time basis and are remunerated for their services as an employee of the company.

Non-executive directors have the same duties and attract the same liability as executive directors in company law and in the insolvency context but are not subject to the employee issues associated with executive directors.
